Silk Necktie Care
Tie Construction
All of XL Ties Chicago ties are made of the very finest 100% English Silk. All of our ties are woven which means that each thread has its own individual color. Thus, our ties are very vibrant in color, and will retain their luster if stored out of direct sunlight.

Woven silk ties by nature do tend to snag more easily than their silk screened counterparts. Therefore, we highly recommend that you avoid any sharp edges (i.e. watches, cuff links, 5 O’clock shadows) when donning your tie. When removing your tie, it is best to reverse the process you used to put it on. DO NOT grab the knot and pull it over the small end of the tie, this compromises the integrity of the interlining of the tie, and could cause unnecessary wrinkles and pilling of the silk fabric.

We also do not recommended leaving your silk necktie knotted, as this will create permanent creases.

Tie Storage
When storing your tie, we recommend that you drape it over a wooden dowel, or other reputable tie rack. If you have the room, another excellent means of storing your ties is folding it once and rolling it up, small end first toward the wide end.

Silk Necktie Maintanance
If a snag should occur, use the sharpest scissors you have available to cut the thread as close to the tie as possible.

Silk does not clean easily, and it is recommended that you cover your tie when you are in close proximity to anything that may splatter or drip onto your tie. Should you need to clean your tie, we recommend contacting a trusted dry cleaner in your area.

Following these simple instructions will prolong the life of your silk necktie.
